We are one – ‘Unity in Diversity’: Independence Day Celebration- 2019

Independence Day Celebration

“Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge,
At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps,
India will awake to life and freedom!” – Jawaharlal Nehru

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of Free India, gave a speech in New Delhi on Independence Day, just after the liberation of India. When the world was sleeping, India’s individuals were struggling and walking to gain freedom and life from the British rule. Now, following Independence, India has become the world’s biggest democratic nation and the most beautiful example of unity in diversity.

Values, culture and ethics are what captures the essence of Atlas’s identity too. These concepts are deep rooted in both our professional and non-professional work. On the occasion of 73rd Independence Day, at Atlas SoftWeb, our co-founder, Mr. Royson Rajan, addressed the members and shared a meaningful message with the team. He talked about Freedom through Unity in Diversity.  Independence was not just achieved by non-violence, but also by violence. If we had Mahatma Gandhi who used his Truth and non-violence ways, we had Bhagat Singh who used his courage and bravery to die for his nation’s freedom. Freedom was a result of diversity, be it different people, different cultures, different values, different religions or different ways. Similarly, at Atlas, we embrace each person and their culture. We do not have an environment that follows or believes in a particular caste, creed, or religion. We are a big family who strongly believes in ‘Unity in Diversity’. The true essence of freedom is to celebrate it every day and respect each other. Our freedom fighters and leaders sacrificed their lives so that we could live our lives freely. They saw hope in the future of a brighter nation. Now, it is our time that we use this life in a better way and not let their sacrifice become futile.

We celebrated the day by dressing up in colours Orange, white or green, the tricolours of our national flag and played patriotic songs throughout the day. We then sang our national anthem, played few fun games in true spirit of freedom and ended it by capturing our happiness and enthusiasm by having a small photo session and later relishing on some sweets.
